jailbreaker

Hi cats -- Kit here.

This week I've been making my mom a little crazy.  When she opens the front door to our apartment when she gets home from work, I run out into the hall.  I don't go very far -- I just sharpen my claws on the carpet and then I ask to go back inside -- but she's worried that I'll make a run for it.  I do the same thing when she opens the back door to go outside.  I run outside.  I can't help it!  I don't want to go far.  I just want to see what's out there.  She worries I'll run away.  But why would I leave a sweet deal like I've got here?  I've got a mom waiting on me hand and foot.  I've got a sisfur who I like most of the time.  Yeah, I've got it pretty good.

Our Mom doesn't let us out either. We live near the woods and have coyotes. My Mom is always using her foot and swinging it. She looks funny doing it but it works. No one has escaped in a long time.

She got me a leash and takes me for walks. I look snazzy in it.

Most of us just can't help ourselves, we HAVE to see what's "out there!" In our house, Nicki is the escape artist, so the mom has gone to great lengths to give us our little back space (townhouse) but still keep him safely contained. If we lived in an apartment, he'd be out the door and probably off on the elevator somewhere! LOL.

Honey, don't do that...please.

Hi Kit! We think you are smart to want to stay there - we like to stand by the door to try and get out but we haven't actually tried it - and boy mom is so glad about that. That is one of her biggest fears - that we would get out. Our big brother at the bridge, Floyd, would run out into the hallway when our mom lived in her apartment, but eventually he stopped that and he didn't try at all at our house. We understand wanting to investigate though - there are a lot of interesting smells outside!

Athena, sweetie, we cats understand what you're doing and why you're doing it, but you have to remember that your human staff worries about you.

Hi Athena!
We are so happy to meet you, thanks for visiting us at our bloggie!
You really shouldn't run outside like that but we understand how tempting it is!
We looked at some of your other posts....you are cute in the food bag and under the dish drainer!
And Happy Birthday, we see you had one earlier this month!!

My Bogey does the same thing. If the sliding door is open even a smidge, he can open the door and escape...the stinker! We've signed on as your newest followers. Would love it if you could stop by and visit us at Critter Alley!

We don't get to go outside either but today, when Mom opened the door to take out the trash, Chloe ran outside and down the stairs. Silly girl, she stopped short because she couldn't figure out where she was! MOL!

Doors! Me thinks doors should never be closed! Me wants to go out when I me is in, and in when me is out. That's the way us kitties are I guess.

Oh Kit! Please do be careful there! You do not want to run away... the outside can be fun but bad and scary. Indoors is better!

One of the Boys Who Came Before ALWAYS ran into the lobby to sharpen his claws on that carpet. He never runned any further than that though. Still, don't give your Mom a heart attack, ok?

Funny enough, none of us ever bolt for the door. If someone leaves it ajar, we WILL wander out, though!

It's a good life to be a loved indoor only kitteh, but sometimes the call of the wild gets strong... but we're glad you don't go far.

Oh Kit, I understand! I try to escape all the time. It's the call of the wild! Or at least the call of foreign carpets...

Kit, it is a little bit Wrong of you to try to run outside! Do you have a microchip? I got one of those inside me. Even though it is called a chip, you cannot eat it.
